Hull Rupture humans are the workforce of your ship in this Steam PC base-management game: they run modules, repair the hull, fight and can be turned into fuel. This page covers what the developer's posts and a press preview say about humans and production. The game launched on November 4, 2026 and we have not played it.
Hull Rupture Humans as a Resource
The first devlog is blunt: you are an AI dictator, and humans are another resource to assign, optimise and process. They have no individual looks, personalities or faces. The preview calls them expendable and renewable, and says they work as a currency too, for repairs and upgrades that need extra manpower. In short, Hull Rupture humans are both crew and fuel stock. Start with the Hull Rupture beginner guide if the loop is new to you.
What Humans Do
Hull Rupture humans fill several jobs at once:
- Work modules, which keeps production running.
- Repair the ship.
- Become fuel for the engines.
- Take defensive roles such as Fencers and Punishers.
- Act as meatshields if nothing better is available.
Defence is covered on the Hull Rupture turrets page.
Production and Module Weight
Every module adds weight. A heavier ship travels slower and needs more engine power and fuel, and slower travel delays events, shipyards and markets. Staffed engines counter this, since the preview says humans assigned to an engine make the ship fly faster.
Position also matters: some modules boost neighbours, and Despot's Chamber boosts the modules next to it. Compact layouts help, which ties to Hull Rupture hull construction. The third devlog adds that investing little in engines is a valid strategy, because it saves resources for production and defence, though you collect fewer map rewards. Routes are on the Hull Rupture galaxy map page.
Resources Named in the Sources
The sources name eight resources. Values and rates are not published.
| Resource | What the sources say |
|---|---|
| Energy | An energy generator makes it every 20 seconds, only while humans are assigned. Spent on repairs, building and upgrades. |
| Humans | The workforce, and a currency for manpower-heavy tasks. |
| Fuel | Engines run very slowly without it. An acid pool turns humans into fuel. |
| Biofuel | Seen as a reward from a random event in the preview. |
| Microchips | Seen as a reward from a random event in the preview. |
| Isotopes | Seen from a modifier that rewards building small modules. |
| Tokens | Shop currency; Cursed Mode charges humans instead. |
| Minerals and Adamantium | Minerals can be bought with fuel at markets; Adamantium is named for stronger turrets. |
The achievement Crowded In Here asks for more than 300 humans in a run; see Hull Rupture achievements.
Bioreactor and Reproducer
Hull Rupture humans can be produced as well as spent.
The preview names a Reproducer module that makes humans. The developer's post on the demo said a new Reproducer and an auto-send button for the Bioreactor were added, and that automation for converters like the Bioreactor was planned. Exact rates are not published. The Hull Rupture tips page has other practical notes.
Hull Rupture Humans FAQ
How do I get more humans?
The preview mentions a Reproducer that creates them. Other sources, such as events and shop crates focused on humans, are only partly described.
Can humans die?
Yes. They are described as expendable, and a preview event cost the crew about 5% of its humans. Run-ending loss is a different rule: the run ends when Despot reaches 0 HP.
What is Cursed Mode?
The developer says that in Cursed Mode you pay for purchases with humans instead of tokens. Other modes are listed on the Hull Rupture ships page.
Do humans have names or stats?
No. The developer says they have no individual personalities, and the Hull Rupture shop page covers the crate that focuses on humans.
