Hull Rupture Demo: What Carries Over

Hull Rupture demo: the free Steam demo, what carries over to the full game (tutorial and Trade Mode) and what changed since Next Fest.

5 min readLast checked Sources

The Hull Rupture demo was a free Steam download from the June 2026 Next Fest, and its availability after the full game launched on November 4, 2026 is not confirmed. Check the Steam page before you rely on it: when we checked, the main game page no longer listed a demo. Only a small part of your demo progress carries over, and the developer has changed several systems since. For the full-game basics, our Hull Rupture beginner guide is the place to go. The Hull Rupture shop rework is one of the larger changes.

Hull Rupture Demo Status

The demo is Steam app 4809240, separate from the main game page, and it has been live since June 15, 2026. Earlier developer posts said it would stay available, but the full-game page listed no demo when we checked. According to the Next Fest devlog, the demo reached 25,389 players with an average playtime of 2 hours 33 minutes and 93% positive reviews. The demo page itself showed 91% positive from 234 reviews when we checked.

What Carries Over From the Demo

For the Hull Rupture demo, the developer's launch post is clear: only your completed tutorial and the unlocked Trade Mode carry over to the full game. Everything else starts fresh.

ItemCarries over?
Completed tutorialYes
Trade Mode unlockYes
ArtifactsNo, unlock them again

Artifacts appear in later runs and add modifiers, and you earn them through defeats and progress tokens. Because the demo ones reset, there is no reason to farm them there. Endless Mode is also now separate from Classic, and some artifact icons and names changed.

What Changed Since the Demo

  • Modules can be placed in any empty slot.
  • Modules and turrets can be moved, but moving costs time.
  • The post-battle shop was reworked into themed crates, such as Defense, Humans and Rare, each holding several recipes of one kind.
  • The Rat Turret arrived in demo patch 0.10.12 and turns the enemies it hits into rats.

The same patch also added an auto-send button for the Bioreactor and a new Reproducer. For the ship side, see Hull Rupture ships, and for a list of later changes watch Hull Rupture updates.

Demo Modes and Ship

The Hull Rupture demo had one ship, the Izumo, a small maneuverable ship built from salvaged scrap, per the Wand preview. It offered two modes, Classic and Trade. Trade has no combat. The full game's Steam page advertises more ships and modes than that, though the sources do not agree on a full list yet. Check requirements on the Hull Rupture system requirements page before you download.
